FACADE

FACADE

Jacked up on hydraulics,

and a pentagon of drugs,

this fading facade,

is maintained by degree.

The smile is by Balfour Beatty,

the platitudes by design,

but behind this facade,

lies a vacant lot.

The reality of the now,

is a theatrical flat,

a paper-thin facade,

A professional painted backdrop.

So from a distance,

the ship shows a even keel,

but the magic of this facade,

Is a sop to my reality.

Behind this frontispiece,

ferments a Boschian landscape,

tortured by loss and loathing,

the darkest winter of my soul.

THIS IS NOT A POEM ABOUT MY MENTAL STATE, JUST A RESPONSE TO A BEAUTIFUL POEM BY ‘K’.
